10 Things I Want Lyric to Know...

I saw a pin on ‘Pinterest’ today about the things a mother should teach her son.  I loved the post so much I almost started to cry… So yes, while in my super sappy mood I am going to make a list of a few things that I want to make sure Lyric knows. J

1.       You are one of the most perfect things I have ever accomplished.
I say accomplished because I went through a training period so to speak before the big event of meeting you… I had you so close to my heart for 9 months and then when I saw you for the first time I couldn’t imagine my life without you. I loved you more than I have ever loved anything I hadn’t even touched you. When I heard your first cry I knew that at that moment, when you took a breath of air that you were mine, and you were perfect and I couldn’t have been more proud from that day forward.

2.       Being a big brother is not a chore, but a luxury.
Right now you are still young enough that you love playing with your sister. You still get excited when you share your snacks and toys with her. Unfortunately there will come a day when you don’t feel that way.  She will seem like a pest and it will feel like the times that she wants your attention are the exact times that you want no part of helping your little sister. Just remember you are her hero, her protector, her mentor, and her first friend. I remember the first night you saw her at the hospital and you asked me “Mommy, can we take Remedy home to live with us?” and when I said yes your face lit up and you blurted “I cannot wait to show her my dinosaurs!” It was such a perfect moment. Remember to always keep a part of your heart saved for her…

Such a sweet big brother

3.       Your nose is NOT an appropriate place for the following items: crayons, beads, marbles, cheerios, pasta, peas, carrots, french fries, legos, q-tips, or your finger. Period. This I stole from another Mommy’s list but it fits at our house too!

4.        Take the time to get to know people and accept them don’t try to change them.
There was a time when I was not so nice to people who were different than I was. I realize now that was terrible. You have to meet all sorts of people with different styles, beliefs, backgrounds, and dreams. If you don’t take the time to appreciate differences you will never know the type of person that you want to be. You have to meet the nicest people and remember that you would love to be like that and you also have to meet hateful people to train yourself to be kinder when you can.  You cannot change people; it’s not right for you to want someone to be different that what they want to be. The most you can do is the right thing and help others when its’ needed.

5.       Fall in love with as many things as you can.
I heard this on a movie and it is so true. Love is the most important thing in life and to have the best life you need to fall in love with as many things as you can imagine.  Just love, and be loved in return.

Mommy Loves You
6.       Always keep your head held high and keep going.
There will be time in your life where you feel like you are stuck. You aren’t, I promise. Just pull your head back up, be brave, and keep going! Mommy believes in you!

7.       It’s ok to cry.
Men cry, women cry, kids cry. We all do it. Ask your dad!
Daddy cried the first time he held you!

8.       You will always be my little man.
There will come a time in several years when you will be a teenager and hanging out with mom won’t be at the top of the list of things you want to do on Saturday night… I understand. Maybe we can reserve Tuesday nights J Several years after that you will be at the point where you will be making life decisions, like getting married. There is that saying that you have your son until he gets married… please show that there is no truth in that saying!

You were a week old

9.       Be clean.
I know that you will understand basic hygiene however clean is a huge thing in life. You want your space, clothes, and body to look presentable at all times. Now I am not asking for a tux everyday but clean and covered. And in my job I see all too often people looking for a career in sweatpants… Please be smart, dress the part.

10.   You can always come to me. Always! No matter what and no matter where. My home is your home and you are my heart… I love you more than life itself Lyric.

Love,
Mommy

Busy Busy Busy... Perfect!

There are so many exciting things coming up in our life!!!!
Lyric is coming to the end of the soccer season. We have two more games and awards and then we have made it through our first season.  Its very bittersweet… On one hand I am thrilled that we are done because it is two more nights out of my week that I can devote to yet another responsibility, but on the other hand I am saddened because I love how excited he gets when we are getting his ‘armor’ on, also known as shin guards. I love how he talks about how fast he is going to run and how hard he will kick as we are driving to the field. I love how he looks for his dad and I in the crowd after he has done something he is proud of. I love everything about this season… and I know that he will do just as wonderful next season.
I shouldn’t be sad or anything because we are still actively participating in a sport right now, t-ball! He loves it and I honestly don’t think we could have asked for a better team… I just know it’s going to be a fun season!
Aside from the hectic sporting schedules we also have several other things on the calendar. I want to try to have a yard sale this weekend. I think the weather is suppose to be nice and it’s really the last free weekend I am going to have for a while.
I want to get my nails done! Liz, the mommy-to-be that I threw a shower for last weekend, was so sweet and got me a gift card so that I can go and pamper myself a little and I plan on putting it to full use!  I also want to go and buy myself a new dress because on the 25th we have my best friend’s birthday dinner! I love her so much and so we are going to spoil her a bit and go to Touch for dinner and drinks and I am so ready!
I was also thinking that on Sunday we might go and get some spring pictures taken J
Then next Saturday we are having celebrations out on the town for Jordan’s bday and Sunday I am having a Vault Denim party!
Lots and Lots of exciting stuff coming up… Stay tuned for details and pictures!

My little All Star!

T-Ball is officially underway! The first practice was amazing… I was so proud of my little man! We decided when we registered Lyric to play that we wanted him to be on a team where we knew no one so that we would all have to make some new friends. We also decided that we wanted his coach or coaches to be male. He has never taken any real direction from any men other than family… and in a few years he will be going to school and I think we needed to experience a different style/approach to learning and teaching because let’s be honest, men and women teach and learn very differently. Needless to say, I am more than pleased with our coaches! They are wonderful and Terry is helping during practice which I know makes him so happy. He is a very active father and this is right up his alley. Lyric was a great listener and had no problem showing off his skills to his new friends… I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season holds.

Our Easter 2012

I love holidays! I think I have grown up in a family that holidays are always a big deal. And by big deal I dont mean that we make that one ay big, we make the planning, events, and the entire week (sometimes the entire month) a huge ordeal centered around that holiday. We do all the fun crafty holiday traditions, cooking traditions, decor, pictures, and of course gifts, surprises, and such! I love it and I hope my kiddos love it just as much as I do.

Easter this year was fun! We went to see the Easter Bunny and the babies loved it. I was a little worried about little miss because she wanted nothing to do with Santa however she definately surprised me with the Bunny... She loved him! She looked at him with eyes gleaming, teeth sparkling, and hands clenched with excitement! It was precious. And my handsome little man was just as happy... He was however, on more a mission. He infomred me that he needed to tell the Easter Bunny that he wanted green eggs because green is his favorite color! Oh, the mind of  a three year old. *Smile*

We woke up Sunday morning and it was perfect. I woke up first and made final touches to the basket for Lyric and Remedy. Yes, this year they got a basket to share. I made one bacsket for several reasons.

1. Remedy is so little that she will get excited over really anything... a huge basket full of things that she truly  doesnt need just didnt make sense to me.
2. Lyric and Remedy have gotten several things in the past week. Remedy got a bunch of spring and summer shoes, clothes, and some more bows. And Lyric just got all of his t-ball gear (more to come on that)! So honestly spending more money on things that they need was not something that made sense either.
3. Lately, Lyric has been very interested in sharing everything with his sister. If he gets a snack he is sure to ask for Remedy to have one as well or if he can share his with her. I love this... It warms my heart to know that even at a young age he is protecting her and looking out for her. He is a great big brother and she adores him because of how wonderful he is. So sharing a basket I thought would just make both of them happy.
4. They do not need a lot of candy. I knew we would be overwhelmed with candy, snacks, stuffed animals, ect. I am so thankful that we have such wonderful family members that love us so much and do such nice things for our kids.

After I had made some final touches I woke up the family. Lryic and Remedy were all smiles and giggles while looking through their basket and opening the eggs to see what was inside. Terry and I just sat and watched as Lyric opened all of the pink and purple eggs for his sister and saved the green and yellow for himself. It was perfect. Simple and sweet. It was exactly what we needed before a day of chaos.

The holidays are always chaotic because we have a large family and we go to several houses. Long day put short... LOTS OF CANDY, EGGS, PRIZES, LOVE, and HUGS! It was a perfect Easter!

Racing Through the Weekend!

Well the weekend definitely went by too fast at our house. I feel like the older you get faster time seems to pass and it triples in speed once you have children.
Friday night I had a Celebrating Home party… man do I love their products! I would love for my house to be full of their décor, scents, and pottery. But since I am not rich I will continue to have shows so that my friends and family can fall in love with their amazing products and I can receive incredible hostess benefits! I was a designer for CH (Celebrating Home) and loved selling their stuff! Plus making extra money and having a ton of fun, but with my family, work, and our busy schedule I just didn’t have the time or the dedication to making it a business like I needed to. I have decided that I am content with having Tranna (my designer) over and reaping lots and lots of benefits!
Then on Saturday Lyric had a make-up soccer game from a rain out. He played AMAZING! I was so proud… he was very proud of himself as well. And it was another WIN for the Tiger Sharks! He is such a little athlete… he loves the feeling of winning and knows that you have to work hard for the win and if you don’t win you have to practice for next time. It has been so neat to watch him learn through sports and having an active coach. I am so proud and that is an incredible feeling!
After the big win we had some delicious Chinese! Our family loves Chinese food!
Then on Saturday night the kiddos stayed at Gramie’s house and mommy got some girl time with Jordan and Alyssa… It was much needed. We danced all night!
Sunday was the big day! We went to a birthday party at 160 Grand Prix! So fun! We rode Go Karts, played Putt Putt and Lyric loved every minute J  Little Miss enjoyed the sunshine even though there wasn’t much that she was big enough for… But she looked like a Diva in her big sunglasses and her mini shirt!
My racecar drivers!
After the party we went to McAlister’s for an early dinner that was not what we had hoped for. About 15 minutes into our dinner Lyric started complaining that he was cold. Well when I told him to come sit with me so I could warm him up I realized that he had a fever… that little boy was burning up! I got a little scared because he started shivering and was turning very pale with bright red cheeks and ears…  so to Urgent Care we went… and the final test result was Strep type G. Not only did my little guy have it but my big guys as well. The doctor was nice enough to treat both of them and so we picked up antibiotics and the Lion King and home we went for a sleepless night for this momma!
Today the boys still aren’t feeling well and I am exhausted and little miss is happy as always… let the week begin!
My little guy still all smiles

She is sad that the boys are sick :(
