Big Little Girl

It is amazing to me how big my little girl is getting... Just the simplest day to day tasks are changing and she is gaining her independence...

Eating:
She used to sit in her high chair and we would feed her...

Now she wants to sit at the table and feed herself!

Roadtrips:
Snuggled up in an infant carrier... I used to long for the day I didn't have to haul this heavy thing around and now...
She sits in her big girl seat and can see the world and it makes me so happy but so sad at the same time.

Mobility:
Just starting to wiggle her way around, back when I used to get so much housework done.

My side kick that can go wherever she wants, and usually is right behind me trying to be a 'big' helper!

Sleeping:
She used to have so much room in her bed...
Before you know if we will be making the move to a 'big girl' bed :(

So crazy how they go from being so little...

To so big right before our eyes... :)

Boys...

Being a mom to a little boy means...

Stepping on Legos, tiny swords, and other sharp little toys and not yelling curse words because there is the sweetest little face laughing at how funny it was when you screamed...

Buying over priced drinks (that don't even have alcohol)... One expensive drink for the kiddo and one for yourself because heaven forbid you drink out of anything else....

Spending most nights living with a Super Hero....

And the other nights... you are dressing up as well...

You always end up getting the biggest and strongest kisses...

You don't mind sporting a hat and shades for the day...

You start to play with 'boy toys'...

And you sit back and enjoy every second of the crazy ride...

Being a mom to a girl... TOTALLY different! lol But that's another post :)

We Did It

We successfully made it through our first week of  Preschool and Lyric did amazing... Daddy, Mommy, and Remedy not so much!

Lyric was so brave and loved meeting all of his new friends. He talked about his day at school for hours and he was gleaming with excitement.

I cried... oh how I cried. I cried when I woke up that morning while everyone was still asleep, just knowing that I was getting myself ready a little earlier so I could wake up my little man and get him ready. I cried a little after taking some pictures of him all dressed for his day with his new backpack filled with his new blanket, a sheet, and an extra set of clothes and his baby tiger in hand. I cried as he told me with such pride in his voice, "Now Mommy I am going to go in here and play and you can pick me up later, right?" "Right!". I cried for the first hour or so at work while co-workers asked with excitement, How was it? Did he do great, I bet he did he is so social! I cried, because my baby is now a big boy. He is doing big things. I cried because I did it... I raised a wonderful toddler who has a great self esteem and is brave. I cried knowing that this is the first of so many first days that I will watch my little man experience.

It was a wonderful day for Lyric and for that I cried a little more :)

This Week

This week has been pretty busy. Good busy, the kind of busy where you don't feel stressed but excited. The kind where you aren't exhausted but relieved. The good kind of busy where you know that when it's all said and done, those busy tasks will be some awesome memories!
Monday night we had an ice cream date with the Turner family, and Lyric got a surprise birthday present! He is now the proud owner of a skateboard and let me tell you he loves it! We stopped by the park on the way home so that he could try it out and needless to say we didn't get home until after 9pm! We are so so so lucky to have such loving and generous people in our lives.

When we got home Monday night we had a very welcomed visitor. Uncle Joe (my husband's best friend) came home from a job in Rhode Island. Lyric and Remedy were thrilled to see him and we are very excited that he is staying with us. Lyric is especially close with Joe. When Lyric was little Joe was with us all the time and up until a few weeks before Remedy was born Lyric saw Joe daily... then work and life took Joe states away and I can tell my little man is so glad he's back!

Tuesday was a big day. We toured Lyric's new preschool! I know, I know my baby will be starting preschool. This will be a huge change in our lives. Lyric has always been with Terry and I and now its time for him to go and learn from other adults. I know he will be great and love school and blossom. I know that this will make him stronger, smarter, and more prepared for public school. I know these things. I also know how much I will miss him. I understand that during the day I am at work and he is home with his dad and sister. So no, I will not miss him being at home and me being at work. I will miss the baby in him. Once he starts 'school' he will no longer be a baby. All those wonderful little things that still gave me the feeling of my baby boy will be gone once he steps through the school doors for his first day. He will be a big kid. More independent. More secure. More confident. I know these are all good things... but I will miss the little boy that needed me to cheer him on so he could flash a huge smile. The little boy who always wanted to hold my hand and have me join him in tasks. The little boy who needed my help and depended on me for everything. This will be a great transition... I know. He loved his school and the teachers and he even got to meet some of the kids in his class... overall a wonderful first impression. Stay tuned for first day pictures!

Wednesday night was a hubby and I night. Nothing like a date night, we just layed on the couch, the kids and Joe were here, and we watched tv. No laundry, no dishes, no nothing. Just me on his lap watching Sons of Anarchy until midnight... It was amazing!

Thursday was back to the old routine. I went to work, got home and then Terry left for work. Hate it. The weekends are always when I miss him the most!

This weekend we will be buying Lyric is school stuff, having a super fun playdate with Candace, Julie, and an awesome group of kiddos, and then a birthday party!

Check back for all the preschool details... and please say a prayer for me, I am sure my heart will break. :)

I love parties... and Lyric's party was another success. We had an amazing amount of friends and family join us to celebrate four wonderful years full of memories with our special little man. The kids had a blast getting wet with water guns and the adults giggled while relaxing in the perfect weather just enjoying. It was perfect!

Four

Today my Lyric is four. Four whole years that I have held, kissed, and loved this little person. Forty eight months that I have put his needs far before my own and every minute growing more and more selfless.Fourteen hundred and sixty days that I have tried to teach and learn from such a bright little boy. Thirty five thousand and forty minutes of pure bliss. Here is what four is like...

At the age of four you...

A- Act like a dinosaur any time you are trying to ignore me (especially when I am asking you to clean your room)!
B- Behave so well... you are so polite and always say please and thank you!
C- Count all the way to 60... you could get farther however sometimes you have trouble.
D- Drink out of big boy cups... No more cups with lids at the house! Momma is so happy because I truly hate cleaning the straws!
E- Eating new things... you are so picky but you now realize that since you are four, you need to start trying things (that makes Daddy so happy)!
F- Fight for your sister. This is something I am so in love with. You stand up for her and defend her no matter what is happening... you will be such a great protector when you are older and I know you and Remedy will have such a special bond.
G- Getting taller... you are on a growth spurt and I cannot wait to see how tall you are at Dr.Sponengerg's office!
H- Hilarious- You are telling jokes and saying things that make me laugh constantly. I need to carry a journal with me at all times and start writing them down, I am sure they will be great black male for when you are 16!
I- Imagination that is amazing. I never have been very good when it comes to imagination but you are so incredible... I truly believe this will be a trait that gets you far in life.
J- Jealous, although this is something that has just started to show. You have never been the jealous type (your dad isn't either) and I am starting to see that you will have these slight jealous tendencies. Not bad yet, but we will keep an eye on it.
K- Kindness. You are so tender and your feelings are so strong that kindness radiates off of you.
L- Leader... you like to be in charge and you like to make plans... Love that because I am a bit of a planner myself. Everything is always easier with a game plan!
M- Money is something that you are starting to truly understand and become interested in which is amazing. You know that we have to work very hard to have money to enjoy nice things... and you appreciate all the times that we work and you see the payoff!
N- Non stop questions!!!! Makes me crazy at times, but I just remind myself that you are curious and you ask questions to learn and that's why you are so amazing and smart!
O- OMG your such a boy... you love legos, super heros, dinosaurs, cars, karate, sports, and all other things boy! HaHa
P- Positive... a great quality for such a young age.
Q- Quite - never!
R- Really coordinated... I am impressed by how well you have done in sports and it seems like since tball has been over you are getting more and more coordinated. I cannot wait to see how well you do this year with athletics!
S- Silly silly boy. You love to be silly. Silly with Daddy, Remedy, and Mommy and those silly times are some of my favorite moments!
T- Talkative. You talk all the time, and you have such a great vocabulary. Today you actually said that you will have new responsibilities since your four!
U- U are wonderful!
V- Very loving... you are my snuggler and its awesome!
W- Whistle is your favorite song this week and let me tell you, you are quite the singer! Between Payphone by Maroon Five, Boyfriend by Justin Bieber, and Whistle by Flo Rida you host a variety concert that is phenomenal!!!
X- Xtra special to me... my first born and you always remind me that you are my favorite boy!
Z- Zealous... You are so eager and so full of energy. I know you will have another fun and busy year!

The day before you...

"Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to
The day before you..."
-Rascal Flatts "The Day Before You"

This was the song that my husband and I shared our first married dance to. I love it. I love the meaning, the depth, the vulnerability, and the way it makes my heart hurt good. It fits into so many parts of my life with some of the most special people I have ever met. Today its making me tremble thinking about this day almost four years ago, the day before I became a Mommy.

I remember the day before I had Lyric. I woke up August 10th knowing that I would be spending the day relaxing and laughing with family while making sure all of our bags were hospital and baby ready. I had requested that for dinner we all eat Big Mac's because once I checked into the hospital and they started the induction process, I would be eating nothing until my first meal with my son. All day I was quite... just thinking. Thinking about what was to come. Would I be in labor for a long time? Would it be as painful as I anticipated? Would the epidural work? What would Terry be like in delivery? What will my son's first cry sound like? All day I just thought.

Our family...

Today... knowing that tomorrow, my baby, my 7lb 9oz little bundle, will be a four year old little boy. These have been the best four years of my life. Today just like four years ago, I am thinking. And all I can think about is how blessed I am to never have to go back to the day before Lyric.
